At the “Alle Dörfer bleiben-Demo” in June I got to know Minerva Cuevas from Mexico City. She is currently a studio scholarship holder in Mönchengladbach and I visited her in her studio. Only then did I realize how comprehensive and impressive her political and artistic work is. Graphics, painting, video and installations: Each of her works has a deep and direct expression of social criticism, which tears open the layer of ignorance on the high-definition surface of the commodity worlds and reminds us razor sharply of the violence in the production process of these products. She seems to proceed with ease, but above all: with great artistic power. I am delighted that she will be reporting on her work for one evening on 7 August in the Solaris Culture Café.
